Assalamualaikum and a good day to all SPM leavers who received an interview offer to UiTM for Arts & Design course (and reading this post lol)!

First of all, congrats on getting the offer!

*gives applause*

Trust me, you should go to the interview cause it's one of the experience you won't ever forget! I recently went to the interview and I thought to myself, "It wasn't that bad". Really! It's not.

Where shall I start my story first? Hmm.. how about when I checked UPU website? To be honest, I was bored as heck so I decided to check out the UPU website since I've heard you can check it at that certain date starting 10AM. I've entered my IC number and pressed 'Semak'. Wow wow I don't even know if I should be 'in shock' or not hahahaha

I told my mom about it and printed the offer letter, requirements etc etc. (you know what I'm talking about) Anyways, the only thing I'm giving a tip for all of you is, PLEASE PHOTOCOPY ALL OF YOUR CERTIFICATES THAT ARE RELEVANT WITH THE COURSE YOU'RE TAKING cause I did but I forgot to bring it during the interview day and I was frustrated with myself like why I didn't bring it in the first place just in case? Bear in mind, IN THE REQUIREMENTS THEY DIDN'T STATED THAT IT HAS TO BE PHOTOCOPIED LOL (not ranting but I was kinda dissapointed? I guess)

Fast forward to interview day :
Gosh I couldn't sleep well at all! I only slept peacefully for 3 hours then I woke up like 5AM? I was super nervous like I couldn't even think of anything else. On my way there, I did some research on this course and read some experiences from other students via blog. All I think was,"What question will they ask me?". My hands were sweaty hahahaha geez..

Fyi, I'm from Sabah so I went to the interview at UiTM Sabah.

There's two sessions for this interview :

Before that, all of you will gather in a waiting room. So, you have to wait for the 'penjaga' to call your names.

Session 1 - Drawing Test

You need to draw the objects in front of you for 1 hour in a room with 20 people.

Tip: You don't have to draw so detailed, they just want to see if you could draw with the shadings and 'jalinan' (if there is)

You can sit anywhere you like with different angle/point of view of the objects at the center(in front of you). The objects are stack up at the center surrounded by 20 people including you.

Tip: It's alright if you didn't bring a paper or some pencils, there's probably one of the others bring an extra so you can borrow from them :) no pressure, people. It's just a drawing test.

We started at 9:10AM and ended at 10:10AM. The examiner(?) will take your drawing and you may leave the room.

Session 2 - The nerve wrecking interview

Gawd. The other students including were tired to wait for our names to be called out cause there were countless numbers of students who's taking this course. Some of them came from Labuan, Lahad Datu, Sandakan etc. and we have to wait for the whooooole day gosh but it's worth it in my opinion hahahaha

We've been put into a group of four before we get into the interview room. They will give back your drawing and yea, just wait for your group's turn. Before that, the 'penjaga' will tell you to arrange your photocopies for IC, Birth Certificate etc. according to the order (they will say it what to put at the top first and so on) and clip it together(using a stapler ofc).

Oh! I almost forgot they will give a piece of paper and you have to write your SPM results and rate your course you wanted to take either Graphic, Fine Art, Photography, Ceramic etc. from 1 to 9
(1 : your most interested course, 9 : your least interested course)

Throughout the day, most of us sleeping, listening to songs, Whatsapp-ing, Instagram-ing, basically looking at our phones lol but the 'penjaga' was so nice. He talked about his childhood and gave some motivation to us. Terbaik ah, sir!

Oh! We got a break time as well at 12.45PM to 2PM (not all UiTM campuses are the same so it depends on how the campus organise it, I can't explain this much heh)

Exactly at 5PM or was it 6PM, it was my group's turn to enter the room. From early morning til that evening, my nervous level drops instantly cause I had enough of waiting and waiting for my turn.

"That's alright, just answer what they ask you", I keep saying this to myself over and over.

I entered the room with 3 other students behind me. I sat at the third chair from the left and there's 3 people in front of us. 1 guy and 3 girls including me.

We gave our documents to her and she told the person next to her right to check it while she checks our drawings. She told the guy at the left side to introduce himself and that's when I realised, you need to SPEAK IN ENGLISH during the interview. Bukan sunat tapi WAJIB ENGLISH. I had to put my I-am-actually-scared smile before it was my turn.

Once that interview points at me with her pen and said, "Okay! You. Intro and why you like graphic?(most of us write are interested in graphic)" I took a deep breath and just talk what's on my mind

"Hi! I'm (my full name which I literally rap my name)! I'm from _____ and I was studied at _______. I'm the ______ in my family and I love graphic because _________________"

I was so relieved when I saw her face she was so interested in my story on how I love graphic so much! She even asked me if I knew some of the programs they'll be using and I said "I do! Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop bla bla bla" (I didn't say bla bla, I forgot what I've said)

and I was done! What? I'm done? I wasn't expecting that interview to stop me from talking cause I just talk too much hahahah. I was expecting more questions from her like other students she interviewed before me tbh. She looked at my SPM results and she shook her head cause I'm a science student, yeap I'm a science student taking arts for my future studies. No regrets, ma'am.

Overall, it's better for you to do some research on the course you're taking. So, to all of you students who read this. Sharpen your English oral skills and go to Google. Simple as that!

Thanks for reading and all the best guys! Comment your questions if you have any and I will reply to you!
